The brand SABRE was founded in 2004 by former reconnaissance unit Soldier Stephan Krupke under the name “Survival-Equipment”. Back in these days influenced by the British SAS Smock the first version of the KSK-Smock was developed together with active KSK soldiers in the very early days of the German KSK.

From that point under the brand SABRE many different and special pieces of equipment has been development mostly together with active soldiers or swat police officers. The name SABRE has his origin from “SABRE SQUADRON” which is originally a battalion sized unit in some military ground forces. But the term has been used by special forces units. This usage stems largely from the adoption of sabre squadron terminilogy in the British Special Air Service (SAS).
